SYMPTOMS

The U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, passed by the U.S. Congress July, 2005, extended daylight saving time (DST) in the United States. Beginning in 2007, DST will start three weeks earlier and end one week later than previously observed, resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than previously observed. In 2007, DST will start on on March 11 and will end on November 4, 2007.

This change in DST applies to the United States and to Canada. Unless you apply this fix, the time that Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX returns and the time that utilities and time-related APIs in Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications return may be incorrect during this four-week period, depending on the location in the United States or in Canada and on the selected time zone.

Windows Services for UNIX 3.5, English or Japanese language versions

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
