On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you record a Web test in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System Test Edition, you may receive the following error message:
Request Failed: Index and length must refer to a location within the string
CAUSEThis problem occurs because the .NET Framework 2.0 client fails with an exception. In particular, the following exception may occur when you record a Web Test: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index and length must refer to a location within the string This exception occurs if the server content-type HTTP response header of the Web page contains a repeated property-value pair. For example, the following HTTP header contains a repeated property-value pair: Content-Type: text/html;charset=UTF-8;charset=UTF-8. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework 2.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
