Support for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 is added to the release version of Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server

The release version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server relies on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0. To enable the release version of Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server to support Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, you can install the hotfix that is described in this article together with additional configurations.

PrerequisitesYou must have the release version of Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server installed to apply this hotfix.
Note To apply the hotfix that is described in this article, the version of the Microsoft.visualstudio.teamfoundation.teamexplorer.dll file must be 8.0.50727.762 or a later version. For more information about issues that can occur if the version of the Microsoft.visualstudio.teamfoundation.teamexplorer.dll is not 8.0.50727.762 or a later version, see the "More Information" section.

File informationThe English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

When you try to install the hotfix that is described in this article, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
This problem can occur if the version of the Microsoft.visualstudio.teamfoundation.teamexplorer.dll is not 8.0.50727.762 or a later version.
The upgrade path cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have correct upgrade patch
Note By default, the Microsoft.visualstudio.teamfoundation.teamexplorer.dll file is located in the \Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies folder.
To update the Microsoft.visualstudio.teamfoundation.teamexplorer.dll file to version 8.0.50727.762, install Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1). For more information about Visual Studio 2005 SP1, visit the following Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site:

Additionally, the team project creation log contains information that resembles the following:
Error TF30170: The plugin Microsoft.ProjectCreationWizard.Portal failed during task SharePointPortal from group Portal.
Explanation Plugin error text: "The language id specified in the process template does not exist on the WSS server."
User Action Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator.
To avoid this error, apply the hotfix that is mentioned in this article.

Exception Type: Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client.PcwException
