Text may be unreadable when you switch to Source view in Windows Mail

When you use double-byte character set (DBCS) encoding in Microsoft Windows Mail, the text may be unreadable when you switch to Source view.

This problem occurs because of a problem with the RichEdit 4.1 control.

To work around this problem, change the encoding scheme to UTF-8 before you switch to Source view. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Windows Mail.
2. Click Create Mail, and then type any text for the body of the message.
3. In the Format menu, point to Encoding, point to More, and then click Unicode (UTF-8).

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
