SYMPTOMS

You create an appointment and a new task in Windows Calendar on a Windows Vista-based computer. However, when you restart the computer, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Windows Calendar has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Additionally, an error message that resembles the following may be logged in the Application log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event ID: 1000
Description:
Faulting application WinCal.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549b140, faulting module WinCal.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386,time stamp 0x4549b140, exception code 0xc0000005,fault offset 0x0004d6ea, process id 0x179c, application start time 0x01c761104a05e707.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information
