Consider the following scenario. You have a Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0-based Windows Forms application. In this application, you cannot use the Input Method Editor (IME) to input some languages in a container control. For example, you cannot use IME to input some languages in a user control.

Note This problem does not occur in the .NET Framework 1.1.

This problem occurs because the .NET Framework 2.0 adds built-in support of the IME for Windows Forms applications. Because of this support, applications may be unable to access the native IME API.

After you apply this hotfix, the container control can override the CanEnableIme property to return a value of true. Then, the container control can access the native IME API. However, the application must make sure that the calls to the native IME API do not conflict with the IME of the Windows Forms application.
