You cannot use the software inventory method to collect files from a mobile device after you install Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 Service Pack 3
On This PageSYMPTOMSYou install Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on an SMS 2003 Management Point computer that also has the SMS 2003 Device Management Feature Pack installed. You try to use the software inventory method to collect file information from a mobile device. However, when you click Collected Files in Resource Explorer for a mobile device client, file information is not displayed. CAUSEThis problem occurs because SMS 2003 SP3 contains a security feature that prevents the SMS Management Point from collecting files from the mobile device. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
