INTRODUCTION

Microsoft has released Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1). MSXML 6.0 SP1 is released as an optional update on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site. MSXML 6.0 SP1 improves reliability, security, and conformance with the XML 1.0 specification. MSXML 6.0 SP1 also improves compatibility with the System.Xml namespace in the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

Overview of MSXML 6.0 SP1

MSXML 6.0 SP1 updates the existing version of MSXML 6.0, of MSXML 4.0, and of MSXML 3.0.
MSXML 6.0 SP1 updates the version of the MSXML6.dll file to 6.10.1129.0.
You do not have to install the release version of MSXML 6.0 to install MSXML 6.0 SP1.
You can install MSXML 6.0 SP1 side-by-side together with MSXML 4.0 and together with MSXML 3.0.
MSXML 6.0 SP1 is installed as a component of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or as a component of Windows Vista.
