FIX: You may receive an error message when you use Ole Automation to programmatically retrieve a specific version of a file from the history in Visual SourceSafe 2005

SYMPTOMS

When you use OLE Automation in Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 2005 to programmatically retrieve a specific version of a file from the history, you receive the following error message:
Error getting version for file: $/Path/FileName err=An Item with the name Path already exists

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
