SYMPTOMS

When you try to sign in to Games for Windows – LIVE from a game such as Halo 2 for Windows Vista or Shadowrun, you receive a message that states that your LIVE account needs attention before you can sign in by using that account.

Note Some typical examples of actions that you may have to take with your account include viewing a new Terms of Use agreement or updating your billing account information. If you try to resolve the problem by accessing the Account Management tool from a Web browser, the Web browser does not start and you do not receive an error. You may also be signed out of LIVE, and returned to the Main screen.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Start the Web browser manually, and then visit the following Web site:
    http://www.xbox.com/ (http://www.xbox.com/)
  2. Sign in by using the Windows Live ID that you used to create your Games for Windows – LIVE account, and then access the Account Management tool.
  3. Resolve the account issue by performing the appropriate action with your LIVE account, and then restart the game. After you resolve the issue with your account, you can sign in by using your LIVE account.
