  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

MORE INFORMATION

Overview

You can use a Fibre Channel RAID device to help provide high availability for data on a computer. Fibre Channel RAID devices are provided by third-party storage hardware vendors.

The Microsoft Windows Server Catalog Web site does not contain a category for Windows XP Professional that allows for Fibre Channel RAID devices to be listed. Additionally, the Microsoft Windows Server Catalog Web site does not contain a category for Windows XP Professional that allows for these Fibre Channel RAID devices to carry the "Designed for Windows XP" logo.

Supported configurations

For a Fibre Channel RAID device to be supported for use with Windows XP Professional, the following conditions must all be true:
  • The Fibre Channel RAID device must be listed on the Windows Server Catalog Web site.
  • The Fibre Channel RAID device must support one or more versions of Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
  • The Fibre Channel RAID device must carry the "Designed for Windows Server 2003" logo or the "Certified for Windows Server 2003" logo.
  • The Windows XP Professional-based client computer must use the same Fibre Channel driver stack that the Fibre Channel RAID device supports for use with Windows Server 2003.

Unsupported configurations

We do not support Windows XP Professional-based computers that are running in either of the following configurations:
  • A multipath I/O (MPIO) device-specific module (MPIO DSM) is running on the Windows XP Professional-based computer.
  • The Windows XP Professional-based computer is configured in a clustered environment.
Therefore, we do not support a Fibre Channel RAID device that is connected to a Windows XP Professional-based computer that has one of these configurations.
