Description of the Microsoft Windows registry On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you try to put a Tablet PC that is running Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 into standby or into hibernation, it stops responding (hangs). This problem occurs when one or more USB composite devices that support selective suspension are installed. CAUSEThis problem occurs because a deadlock condition occurs when the USB hub driver (Usbhub.sys) synchronously sends the PowerDeviceD0 (D0) power state I/O request packet (IRP). IRPs are queued, but the IRPs are not completed. This deadlock condition prevents the Tablet PC from entering standby or hibernation. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
