SYMPTOMS You use a computer on which 2007 Microsoft Office programs are installed to connect to a document library in a Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 site or in a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site. When you do this, you experience the following symptoms:
CAUSEThis behavior occurs because SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 do not support the 2007 Office file types. This limitation causes the following behavior:
RESOLUTION
You cannot configure SharePoint Portal Server 2003 or Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 to promote or demote metadata from 2007 Office file types. This is a limitation of the product. To add the ability to index 2007 Office file types, download and configure the Microsoft Filter Pack.
