SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. A contact sets an out-of-office message in Microsoft Office Outlook. Then, the contact signs out of Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 on all Communicator 2005 clients. You sign in to Communicator 2005. Then, you view the contact in the buddy list. In this scenario, Communicator 2005 correctly displays the presence status of the contact as Offline. Communicator 2005 also displays the out-of-office message note for the contact. However, when you use SmartTags in Outlook or in Microsoft Office Word to query the presence status of the contact, Outlook or Word incorrectly displays the presence status of the contact as Away.
