FIX: Error message when you import data from a flat file in a SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) package: "There is a partial row at the end of the file"

When you import data from a flat file in a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) package, you may receive the following error message:Additionally, the last row in the flat file may not be imported.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

• The flat file is in the fixed width format.
• The size of the flat file is slightly larger than 128 kilobytes (KB), or the size of the flat file is any multiple of 128 KB. For example, the size of the flat file is 256 KB or 512 KB.

Cumulative update information

The fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 2. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

1. Add a dummy row at the end of the flat file.
2. Import the flat file.
3. If this problem does not occur, delete the dummy row from the destination by adding a Script task.
