SYMPTOMSWhen content is crawled in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, you notice that the Office SharePoint Server Search service generates the following error message in the crawl logs:
An unrecognized HTTP status was received. Check that the address can be accessed using Internet Explorer. (HttpStatusCode Service Unavailable. The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable). CAUSEThis issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, remove the proxy settings that are configured in Internet Explorer on the server that hosts the Shared Service Provider (SSP), and then restart the Office SharePoint Server Search service. To do this, follow these steps:
