SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You try to share a document by using the Microsoft Office Live Meeting client. The Live Meeting client is connected to a Web conference that is hosted by Microsoft Office Communications Server Enterprise Edition.

In this scenario, you cannot share the document in the Web conference. You see only a loading image that has a gray background.

Additionally, if you open the Pwconsole.log file, you receive the following error message:
The host name in the certificate is invalid or does not match.

CAUSE

When you try to share the document in the Web conference, the Live Meeting client uploads the shared document to Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) by using HTTPS. You cannot share the document in the Web conference when the certificate that is assigned to IIS only contains the name of the Communications Server enterprise pool. The certificate does not contain the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the server that has IIS installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the certification request wizard on the font-end server to request and assign a certificate to IIS. The certificate must contain the name of the Communications Server enterprise pool and a Subject Alternate Name (SAN) of the server that has IIS installed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

APPLIES TO
