SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 presentation in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, the text boxes in the on-screen presentation contain misaligned text or shifted text. Additionally, you may not be able to edit the text boxes. This problem occurs on the display and not on the printed output.

Additionally, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • Bullets may not appear.
  • PowerPoint seems to run more slowly, and its performance is degraded.
  • PowerPoint may crash.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the default printer is using an incompatible printer driver.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Obtain an updated printer driver from the manufacturer of the printer.
  2. Install the updated printer driver.
  3. Restart PowerPoint.
Office 2007 Service Pack 2 contains several fixes for PowerPoint print driver interaction and may resolve this issue.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Use a generic printer driver for the default printer. For example, use the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer printer driver.
  2. Restart PowerPoint.
