On This PageSYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you receive a "Stop 0x000000D1" error message. The error message resembles the following: Stop 0x000000D1 (977e6fde, 00000002, 00000001, ba045c43) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1) An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually caused by drivers using improper addresses. If kernel debugger is available get stack backtrace. Arguments: Arg1: 977e6fde, memory referenced Arg2: 00000002, IRQL Arg3: 00000001, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation Arg4: ba045c43, address which referenced memory CAUSEThis problem occurs because a race condition occurs in a module of the Tcpip.sys file.
When the race condition occurs, the module tries to access an object that is already freed. Therefore, the module accesses an invalid memory address. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
