Article ID: 938698 - Last Review: August 30, 2007 - Revision: 1.3 The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service uses almost 100 percent of CPU resources on an Exchange 2007 server, and Outlook clients display the "Outlook retrieving data" dialog box
SYMPTOMSOn a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, the Microsoft Exchange Information
Store service uses almost 100 percent of CPU resources. When this occurs, Microsoft Office Outlook clients cannot connect to
the Exchange 2007 server. Then, the Outlook clients display the Outlook retrieving data dialog box. CAUSEThis problem occurs because long-running transactions cause
the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service to use almost 100 percent of CPU resources. In this case, the
large message generates the running transactions that cause this problem. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 4 for
Exchange Server 2007. For more information about Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007, see the following Exchange Help topic: Description of Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007
(http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=152563)
For more information about how to install the latest Exchange service pack or update rollup, see the following Exchange Help topic:How to Obtain the Latest Service Pack or Update Rollup for Exchange 2007
(http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=152570)
