SYMPTOMS

When you try to join a Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 session that uses the Internet Audio Broadcasting feature, you may receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
An error occurred while connecting to the audio broadcast for this meeting. Please try again later, or contact the meeting organizer.
Additionally, you cannot hear the audio broadcast.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because certain settings have to be adjusted in one or both of the following programs:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer
  • Microsoft Windows Media Player

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, adjust the settings in Internet Explorer and in Windows Media Player as follows.

How to adjust the Internet Explorer settings

  1. Close all Live Meeting sessions that may be running on the computer. Additionally, close all Internet Explorer windows that may be open.
  2. Start Internet Explorer.
  3. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. In the Settings list, click to select the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections check box under HTTP 1.1 settings.
  6. In the Settings list, click to select the Use TLS 1.0 check box under Security.
  7. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  8. On the File menu, click Exit.
  9. Try to rejoin the Live Meeting session.
If the problem is not resolved, follow the steps in the "How to adjust the Windows Media Player settings" section.

How to adjust the Windows Media Player settings

  1. Start Windows Media Player.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. Click the Network tab, and then click to clear the UDP check box in the Streaming protocols area.
  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  5. On the File menu, click Exit.
  6. Try to rejoin the Live Meeting session. You should now be able to hear the Internet audio broadcast.
