INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to share control of the desktop or of an application with an attendee in Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2005.

You can share control of the desktop or of an application with an attendee if the following conditions are true:
  • You purchased the ability to give control to an attendee as part of your Live Meeting service.
  • The person who schedules the meeting enables the Application Sharing feature.
If the Application Sharing feature is not enabled, the Give Control button does not appear when you share control of an application.

How to enable the Application Sharing feature

To enable the Application Sharing feature in a new meeting or in an existing meeting, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to Live Meeting 2005 as an administrator.
  2. Use one of the following methods:
    • To let a presenter share his or her desktop in a new meeting, follow these steps:
      1. In the left navigation pane, click Preferences under Manage.
      2. In the left navigation pane, click Meeting under Preferences.
      3. Under Application Sharing, click Enabled for Desktop and Single Application.
      4. Click Submit.
    • To let a presenter share his or her desktop in an existing meeting, follow these steps:
      1. In the left navigation pane, click Meetings under Manage.
      2. Locate the meeting, and then click Edit.
      3. Next to Advanced Meeting Options, click Edit.
      4. Under Application Sharing, click Enabled for Desktop and Single Application.
      5. Click Submit.

How to share control of the desktop or of an application with an attendee

To share control of the desktop or of an application with an attendee in your meeting, follow these steps:
  1. Log on to Live Meeting 2005 as a presenter.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Sharing slide.
  3. In the Sharing Setup dialog box, click one of the following options:
    • The whole desktop
    • A specific application
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Give Control, click the member whom you want to control the desktop, and then click Select.

    Note A presenter can immediately stop sharing the desktop by pressing ESC or by clicking Take Control.
