INTRODUCTION

Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3) provides the latest updates to Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 SP3 contains security improvements, stability improvements, and performance improvements. Some fixes that are included with Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 SP3 were previously released in Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or in separate updates. Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 SP3 combines the previously released fixes into one update.

Issues that were not previously documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base

This service pack fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
•The GetListItems operation to retrieve a list items attachment causes performance issues

When a GetListItems operation occurs in Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 for list items that contain an attachment, an extra SOAP request is sent to retrieve the attachment. This causes a performance issue when there are many list items that contain attachments. To resolve the performance issue, Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 SP3 uses the IncludeAttachmentUrls property to retrieve the list items attachments.
•You receive a "Cannot open the rich text editor" error message when you try to add a Rich Text Editor Web Part

Consider the following scenario. You open a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site in Windows Internet Explorer 7. You create a new Web Part page, and then you add a Content Editor Web Part. When you open the Tool pane in the Web Part and then click Rich Text Editor, you receive the following error message:
Cannot open the rich text editor.
•An ActiveX control in a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site is not active when you visit the page

When you use Windows Internet Explorer 7 to visit a page that contains an ActiveX control in a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site, you must click the control to make it active.
