You receive an error message when you try to open a Project 2007 file that is protected with a password in Project 2003 Service Pack 3

SYMPTOMS

You install Microsoft Office Project 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3). However, when you try to open a Microsoft Office Project 2007 file that is protected with a password in Project 2003 SP3, you receive one of the following error messages:
Error message 1
An unexpected problem occurred while opening the file.
The file may be damaged. Try using a backup copy.
Error message 2
The password is incorrect.
Retype the password, and then try again.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Project 2003 SP3 does not support the opening of Project 2007 files that are protected with a password. Project 2003 SP3 supports the opening of Project 2007 files only if they are not protected with a password.
