Error messages when you create a new MAPI form or you try to open custom forms in Outlook 2003

Problem description

The following symptoms may occur in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.

Symptom 1
When you try to create a new MAPI form in Outlook 2003, you receive the following error message:

Symptom 2
When you try to open a custom form from a published location such as Organizational Form Library, you receive the following error message:
The form you selected could not be displayed. The form required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your administrator.
Symptom 3
When you try to open a received custom form e-mail item, you receive the following error message:
The custom form could not be opened. Outlook will use an Outlook form instead. The form required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your administrator.

To fix these issues, enable MAPI forms. To do this, follow these steps.
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Forms\
  3. Double-click the EnableMapiForms registry entry, type 1 in the Value data text box, and then click OK.

    Note If this registry path does not exist, create a new dWord-Value registry entry, name it EnableMapiForms, and give it the value of 1.
