FIX: Error message when you use Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 to receive HIPAA messages

Consider the following scenario:

• You use Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 to receive "Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act" (HIPAA) messages.
• Equivalent subloops or equivalent segments are not in the order in which they appear in the implementation guide.

In this scenario, you may receive an error message in the event log that resembles the following error message:Additionally you receive the following message in the event log:

Note The error message information differs from the source files.

This problem occurs because the BizTalk Server 2006 R2 Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) runtime assumes that the equivalent subloop and the equivalent segments are in the order in which they appear in the implementation guides. The EDI runtime cannot parse any HIPAA messages that are not in that order. However, per the HIPAA implementation guides, the equivalent subloop and the equivalent segments are not ordered.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.Note Because of file dependencies, the most recent hotfix that contains these files may also contain additional files.



This hotfix includes some code fixes. This hotfix also includes a new set of HIPAA schemas. After you install this hotfix, the MicrosoftEdiXSDTemplatesKb939080.exe file is in the following folder: This hotfix contains updated schemas. Double-click this compressed file to unzip it. However, be aware that if you unzip the file to the same directory as the existing schemas, the existing schemas may be overwritten.
