You can merge a contact, an account, or a lead by using a custom SDK application even though you do not have the Merge privilege in the security role in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0
The hotfix that is discussed in this article is not available for the Chinese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or for the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
Even though you do not have the Merge privilege in the security role in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you can merge a contact, an account, or a lead in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 by using a custom Software Development Kit (SDK) application.
Note You cannot complete the merge if you log on to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. You can merge these entities only if you use a custom SDK application.
For example, you can merge these entities even though you have only the Delete user-level privilege for contacts, for accounts, or for leads. You should be able to merge these entities only if you are the owner of the two records that you want to merge.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 3.
