On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you work with a Windows XP Service Pack 2-based or Windows Server 2003-based multiprocessor computer, you receive an error message that resembles the following: STOP 0x000000D1 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL This problem occurs if one of the following conditions is true:
CAUSEThis error occurs because of a problem in the battery driver (Battc.sys). RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
