Bug #: 50001448 (SQL Hotfix) Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release. SYMPTOMSWhen you try to create an Oracle publication by using the New Publication Wizard in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you receive an error message that resembles the following: OLE DB Provider "OraOLEDB.ORACLE" for Linked server LinkedServerName returned message "ORA-02074: Cannot ROLLBACK in a distributed transaction ORA-06512: at "Oradbpub.Hrepl", Line 1716 ORA-03001: unimplemented feature ORA-06512: at line 1 Error: 7215, Sev: 17, State: 1,MSG: Could not execute statement on remote server ServerName CAUSEThis issue occurs because SQL Server 2005 SP2 handles the function-based indexes and the domain-based indexes incorrectly. The function-based indexes and the domain-based indexes are not supported in an Oracle publication in SQL Server 2005. RESOLUTIONThe fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 3. Cumulative update package 3 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2937137 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 hotfixes are created for specific SQL Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.
