Microsoft has released a service pack for the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack. INTRODUCTION

Office Compatibility Pack Service Pack 1 (SP1) contains significant security, stability, and performance improvements. Some fixes that are included in Office Compatibility Pack SP1 were previously released in separate updates. Office Compatibility Pack SP1 combines the previously released fixes into one update.

Issues that the service pack fixes

A Microsoft Excel workbook is available that contains a list of the Compatibility Pack issues that are fixed by Office Compatibility Pack SP1. The workbook is in English. The workbook will not be translated into any other languages.

How to obtain and install the service pack

Office Compatibility Pack SP1 is available on the Microsoft Download Center, together with installation instructions and deployment strategies. To download this service pack from the Microsoft Download Center, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Removal information

You cannot use the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel to remove Office Compatibility Pack SP1. To remove Office Compatibility Pack SP1 from your computer, you must remove the Office Compatibility Pack by using Add or Remove Programs in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or by using Programs and Features in Windows Vista.

Note If you later decide to reinstall Office Compatibility Pack SP1, first install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats, and then install Office Compatibility Pack SP1. Both of these download packages are available from the Microsoft Download Center.
