Inline attachments are converted to inline hyperlinks in an RTF e-mail message that is sent from an Exchange 2007 organization

SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 organization, a user sends a Rich Text Format (RTF) e-mail message to an external, non-Exchange Server recipient. The message contains an inline attachment. In this situation, when the recipient receives the message, it is converted to HTML format. Additionally, the inline attachment appears as an inline hyperlink that displays the file name. If the external recipient uses Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, the paper clip icon that indicates the attachment does not appear in the message.
