Error message when you press F9 to send and receive e-mail messages in Outlook 2007: "TASK 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x8004010F)"

Consider the following scenario. You use Cached Exchange Mode in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Additionally, you use the DownloadOAB registry value to prevent the automatic download of the offline address book (OAB). When you press F9 to send and receive e-mail messages in all Outlook accounts, Outlook unexpectedly tries to download the OAB. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

To resolve this problem, apply hotfix 939596. Additionally, you must turn off the option to download the offline address book before you press F9.

How to obtain the hotfix

This issue is fixed in the Outlook 2007 Hotfix Package that is dated June 29, 2007. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

How to turn off the option to download the offline address book

1. On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
2. Click Edit.
3. Click to clear the Download offline address book check box, and then click OK.
4. Click Close to close the Send/Receive Groups dialog box.
5. Press F9 to send and receive e-mail messages in all Outlook accounts.
