INTRODUCTION

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • You perform a full crawl operation across some sites in SharePoint Portal Server 2003. When you query for some text that is encoded in Unicode Translation Format-8 (UTF-8) format on these sites, no site is returned.
  • You add a picture to a user profile in SharePoint Portal Server 2003. When you do this, the ampersand (&) character in the URL of the picture is automatically replaced by the following string:
    &
  • Consider the following scenario. In a SharePoint Portal Server 2003 portal site, you click Add Link to Site on the Sites page to add a new link to the site directory. On the Add Link to Site page, you specify the information for the new link. Then, you click either OK or Cancel.

In this scenario, the Add Link to Site page stops responding. Additionally, the link is not added to the site directory.

This issue occurs when one of the following conditions is true:
    • You install Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
    • You install SharePoint Portal Server 2003 on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1. Then, you apply hotfix 933854.
