Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

New Zealand daylight saving time (DST) changes

The New Zealand government announced that the daylight saving time (DST) dates have changed for New Zealand in 2007. To comply with the DST changes, you must update both Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 and the operating system that you are using.

A query in a custom view takes longer than expected to complete

You use a custom view that queries a server that is running Microsoft SQL Server. When the query runs, the query takes longer than expected to be completed.

You cannot restore a backup that contains file names with more than 256 characters

You install an update that contains hotfix 888505 on a computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services 2.0. When you try to restore a backup of a Web site that contains files that have a file name of more than 256 characters, the restore is not completed successfully. You cannot edit an ActiveX controls after you install Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack 3

You install Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Service Pack 3 on a computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services 2.0. When you try to edit an ActiveX control on a Web page, the ActiveX control does not load. For example, this problem may occur when you try to edit a List control.
