SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Office Project 2007 issues that are fixed in the Project 2007 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated January 28, 2008.

INTRODUCTION

List of issues that are fixed

This hotfix package fixes the following issue:
942873  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942873/ ) When you create a new template by using an existing template, the Status Manager field uses the user name in the original template in Project 2007

This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Project Professional closes unexpectedly when you try to group the enterprise resource pool by RBS level

When you try to group the enterprise resource pool by Resource Breakdown Structure (RBS) level in Office Project Professional 2007, Project closes unexpectedly. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Office Project has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that resembles the following error signature:

Application nameApplication versionModule nameModule versionOffset
Winproj.exe12.0.4518.1014Winproj.exe12.0.4518.101400bc2e31

You receive error 458 when you try to save or import a Project plan that uses the ProjectBeforeTaskChange event or the ProjectBeforeTaskChange2 event

You are using a Project plan that contains a macro that uses the ProjectBeforeTaskChange event or the ProjectBeforeTaskChange2 event. You try to do one of the following tasks:
  • You click Save on the File menu to name the Project plan, and then you try to save the Project plan.
  • You try to import the Project plan to the enterprise resource pool by using the Import Wizard.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Error 458: Variable uses an automation type not supported in Visual Basic.

The booking type of a resource is changed to the same booking type as the enterprise resource

You upgrade a Microsoft Office Project 2003 database to Project 2007. If a resource in a Project plan has a booking type that differs from the enterprise resource's booking type, the booking type of the Project plan resource is changed to the same booking type as that of the enterprise resource.

Project 2007 closes unexpectedly when you try to save a Project plan after you run an EPM solution

You run an Office Enterprise Project Management (EPM) solution that connects to multiple database servers. When you try to save a Project plan back to a database server, Project 2007 closes unexpectedly.

The progress bar in a Gantt chart shows an incorrect amount of actual work

You have a Project plan that contains a Gantt chart to show the actual work that was performed. When you update the Actual Work field, the Gantt chart may show an incorrect amount for the actual work that was performed. For example, assume that you performed 16 hours of actual work that began on Monday and ended on Tuesday. After you update the Actual Work field by reporting 16 total hours of actual work, the progress bar in the Gantt chart begins on Monday and overlaps into Wednesday.

You can save a baseline when you import a Project plan if you are a member of a Project Manager group that has Deny permissions

You are a member of a Project Manager group that has Deny permissions for saving a protected baseline or an unprotected baseline. However, when you import a Project plan that contains a baseline, you can save a protected baseline or an unprotected baseline.

Incorrect cost scheduling may occur if a Project plan's Start Date field differs from the time-phased Start Date field

You have a Project plan that uses various Cost time-phased fields. If the Start Date field of the Project plan is set to a date that differs from the Start Date of the time-phased section in the Project plan, incorrect cost scheduling may occur when an amount is entered in any Cost time-phased field.

The links for linked tasks are removed when you perform a copy-and-paste operation

You save a Project 2007 plan that contains linked tasks to a server that is running Microsoft Office Project Server 2007. If you then copy-and-paste the linked tasks in the Project plan to a different section of the Project plan, the links for the pasted tasks are removed.

Project Professional 2007 may close unexpectedly on a computer that is also running BlackICE

When you run Project Professional 2007 on a computer that is also running BlackICE from IBM Internet Security Systems, Inc., Project Professional 2007 may close unexpectedly. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Office Project has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that resembles the following error signature:
Collapse this tableExpand this table
Application nameApplication versionModule nameModule versionOffset
Winproj.exe12.0.4518.1014Winproj.exe12.0.4518.101400a743c2

The Booking Type field of an assigned resource is changed after you publish the Project plan

You have an enterprise resource that has the Booking Type field set to "Proposed," and you have assigned the resource in a Project plan. After you publish the Project plan, the Booking Type field for the assigned resource is changed to "Committed."

Data in custom fields is lost when you save the Project plan

You create a custom field in a Project plan, and then you add data to the custom field. When you save the Project plan, the data in the custom field is lost.

Data in custom flag fields is lost when a custom flag field is edited

You have a Project plan that contains data in custom flag fields. When a custom flag field is edited, the data in other custom flag fields is lost.

Values in the Actual Work field and in the Work field may be incorrect after you approve changes

You have a Project plan that contains more than one resource. After you approve changes that are submitted for the Actual Work field and for the Work field in the Project plan, the values in the Actual Work field and in the Work field may be incorrect.
