On This PageSYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You use one of the following Microsoft BizTalk Adapters to send messages:
In this scenario, the adapter works only intermittently when you use the adapter to send messages. Additionally, the following error messages are logged in the Application log: Error message 1 Runtime Error: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. Error message 2 Duplicate system defintion. CAUSEThis problem occurs because each host instance has a separate RuntimeAgent.exe process. At startup, each RuntimeAgent.exe process tries to connect to the back-end system. Each RuntimeAgent.exe process may try to access the same TCP/IP port that another RuntimeAgent.exe process is already accessing. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
