SYMPTOMS

When you use a tablet pen to mark items or to drag items in an application on a Windows XP Tablet PC Edition-based computer, the application stops responding. You experience this problem when the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition-based computer has the Advanced Text service enabled.

When this issue occurs, you have to restart the application. When you perform the same actions again, the application stops responding again.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because of an error in the Tiptsf.dll file.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
