Xbox 360: “Can’t find the update disc. Please insert the disc” Error message when you install an update from a game disc

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install an Xbox 360 software update on an Xbox 360 Core System console by using a game disc, you receive the following error message:
Can’t find the update disc. Please insert the disc
Note The Xbox 360 Core System does not have a hard drive.

THINGS TO TRY

To install the Xbox 360 update, follow these steps:
1.Leave the game disc in the Xbox 360 DVD drive.
2.Press the power button to turn the Xbox 360 console off.
3.After the console is turned off, press the power button again to start the console.
After you follow these steps, the update procedure starts automatically. Then, the update will install successfully.
