SYMPTOMS

When you try to visit a Web site that is hosted on Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

Server Error in Application "<application name>"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTTP Error 404.9 – File Attribute Hidden
HRESULT: 0x80070002
Description of HRESULT # The system cannot find the file specified.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the requested file is hidden.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

In Microsoft Windows Explorer, open the content folder.
Locate the file for the Web site that you want to visit.
Right-click the file, and then click Properties.
On the General tab, click to clear the Hidden check box, and then click OK.
