The file count under Catalog Folders in Expression Media is incorrect when you use the operating system to move files

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You create a folder that is named FolderA. FolderA contains two subfolders that are named FolderA1 and FolderA2. Each subfolder contains a picture. You import FolderA into Microsoft Expression Media. Then, you use the operating system instead of Expression Media to move the file in FolderA1 to FolderA2. For example, you use Windows Explorer to move the file to FolderA2. Finally, you update the folder information in Expression Media.

In this scenario, the file count for FolderA1 under Catalog Folders in the Organize panel does not change. Additionally, when you click FolderA1 under Catalog Folders in the Organize panel, you can still see the picture that you moved to FolderA2 in List view or in Thumbnail view.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. On the Find menu, click Find Missing Items.
  2. In the message that appears, click Remove.
