The 2007 Microsoft Office suites Service Pack 1 (SP1) provides the latest updates to the 2007 Office suites. Service Pack 1 contains security improvements, stability improvements, and performance improvements. Some fixes that are included with the 2007 Office suites Service Pack 1 were previously released in separate updates. Service Pack 1 combines the previously released fixes into one update. This service pack fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

• The IME (Japanese) 2007 cannot exclude candidate list items that contain Unicode characters and surrogate characters
  The 2007 Microsoft Office suites SP1 adds an option for the Input Method Editor (IME) (Japanese) to exclude special characters. This option lets the user select how the IME inputs ShiftJIS characters and non-surrogate characters.
• You cannot insert a picture by using the object model in a specified position in the 2007 Office suite
  When you insert a picture into a chart by using the object model, the 2007 Office suite sets the top property and the left property of the picture before it sets the width property and the height property. This issue can cause the picture to be inserted into the wrong location in a chart.
• When you try to apply a shadow effect to a chart by using the Shapes Object Model in the 2007 Office suite, the shadow effect applies only to selected chart elements
  When you use the Shapes Object Model to apply a chart background effect, the effect applies only to the selected chart element instead of to the whole chart.
• In the 2007 Office suite, when you print three-dimensional objects by using a laser printer or an inkjet printer, the shapes may be not filled with the same level of darkness
  This problem occurs for most of the printers from major printer manufacturers in Japan.
• In the 2007 Office suite, the RelativeToOriginalSize parameter of the shape object in the Object Model is broken
  The "Restore Table scale" functionality helps the user restore the table width and the table height. To achieve this functionality, the 2007 Office program sets the scalewidth property and the scaleheight property of the shape object. However, if you set "Shape.ScaleWidth" and "Shape.ScaleHeight," and if the second parameter is set to "msoTrue," an exception is thrown. The second parameter is the RelativeToOriginalSize parameter.
• The Concourse theme may be printed with a black triangle in PowerPoint 2007
  In PowerPoint 2007, when you use the Concourse theme to print a presentation, the slide layouts that use the background gradient may be printed with a black triangle in the upper-left corner. This problem may also occur together with the Adobe PDF print driver and Microsoft XPS Document Writer.
• The 2007 Office suite cannot display an EPS format of a picture in a form
  The 2007 Office suite cannot display an Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) format of a picture in a form.
• You cannot ungroup Office drawing objects in PowerPoint 2007
  When you try to manually ungroup an imported picture in PowerPoint 2007, you may receive the following message:
  This is an imported picture, not a group. Do you want to convert it to a Microsoft Office drawing object?
  If you click Yes, the picture is converted to a drawing object. Then, you try to programmatically ungroup the imported picture. To do this, you select the picture, and then you use the "ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange.Ungroup" method in Microsoft Visual Basic Editor. Then, you may receive the following error message:
  Run-time error '-2147024891 (80070005)': This member can only be accesses for a group.
• You may receive security warnings for the .xll files when Excel is started
  You have an Excel-based solution that includes the .xll files. You want Excel to start without security warnings. You put the .xll files into a trusted location to avoid security warnings. However, you may still receive a security warning when Excel is started.
• The 2007 Office applications may restart on Windows Vista-based computers
  On Windows Vista-based computers, the 2007 Office applications cannot restart after the application crashes.
• You cannot link Windows SharePoint Services to a Word document if a rights-managed document is open and Internet Explorer 7 is running in a non-admin mode
  On a Windows Vista-based computer, you try to open a Word document on a Windows SharePoint Services site. And, Internet Explorer 7 uses the low rights setting (the default setting). The Word document is restricted to disable any Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) rights. When you try to open the Word document again, you cannot open it.
• The verification fails for XML signatures that use the .NET Framework 3.0 packaging APIs
  The verification fails for XML signatures that use the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 packaging application programming interfaces (APIs).
• On a computer that has heap validation enabled, when you apply an update to the 2007 Office applications, the installation crashes or the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) entry is not written
• The Office Customization Tool (OCT) generates the wrong registry data for the JunkMailProtection registry entry
  The OCT sets incorrect registry values for the DWORD value for the JunkMailProtection policy for Outlook 2007.
• The 2007 Office suite must update the Office Customization Tool for ActiveX Control settings
  The OCT writes incorrect registry values for 2007 Office security settings. This causes unsafe ActiveX initialization.
• The OMPM tool may not work correctly in Japanese versions of the Microsoft operating system
  When you analyze reports in the Office Migration Planning Manager (OMPM) tool for access compatibility, you may receive the following error message:
  ODBC - Call fail.
  This problem occurs only in Japanese versions of the Microsoft operating system.

The following errors are fixed in Office Publisher, in Office SharePoint Designer, and in files that are used by multiple 2007 Office applications. Additionally, other program versions, other module versions, and other offsets are possible.
