A hotfix that addresses changes to daylight saving time in 2007 is available for Windows Services for UNIX and for Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications

The U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended daylight saving time (DST) in the United States. Beginning in 2007, DST started three weeks earlier and ended one week later than previously observed. There were also changes to the start dates and the end dates for DST in other international time zones in 2007.

A hotfix that addresses the changes to DST in 2007 is available for Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX and for Microsoft Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA). This hotfix contains changes for the following products:

• Services for UNIX 3.5
  Services for UNIX 3.5, x86-based English versions and the Japanese SDK
• Services for UNIX 3.0
  Services for UNIX 3.0, x86-based English versions and the Japanese SDK
• Subsystem for UNIX-based Application together with Windows Server 2003 R2 or Windows Vista
  Utilities and SDK for SUA together with English versions of Windows Server 2003 R2

Unless you apply this hotfix, the time that Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX returns and the time that the utilities and the time-related APIs in SUA return may be incorrect during the period between the old and new start and end dates. However, this hotfix does not change the underlying Windows time zone information. The only changes are in how Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX communicates with UNIX-based applications.

This change in DST applies to the United States and to the following time zones:
