Known issues

Setup will not reinstall required components that have been deleted

Setup will install all the required software to run Windows Live Photo Gallery. However, if you accidentally uninstall a required component, running Setup again will not reinstall that component. In this situation, run Setup again to reinstall Windows Live Photo Gallery, if the program has been uninstalled, and then install the following required software components:
The Windows Imaging Component (x86): To download and install this 1.2-megabyte (MB) component, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Note This component is not required for Windows Vista-based computers.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition: To download and install this 1.7-MB package, visit the following Web site:

Problems occur when you perform certain operations with high-definition video content on Windows Vista

You may experience problems when you try to obtain, rotate, or publish high-definition MPEG-2 or DVR-MS video content in Windows Live Photo Gallery on a Windows Vista-based computer. This problem occurs because of a low-level video bug in Windows Vista. Microsoft is aware of this bug and is working on a fix. However, you should be aware that the original video content will not be changed or harmed by this bug. For more information about this problem, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Images are not displayed correctly

Images may not be displayed correctly when a defective color profile is installed as a display profile. Windows Live Photo Gallery Viewer respects any custom color profiles that you may have set, and defective profiles will cause the system to display images incorrectly. The solution is to remove the association of the display with the defective display profile and return to using the default display profile of sRGB. For more information about how to resolve this issue, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
942856 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942856/) When you view an image in Windows Photo Gallery, the image may be displayed with an incorrect color cast

You cannot set the scanner options from within the Windows Photo Gallery Import options on a Windows Vista-based computer

Changes to scanner settings in the Windows Photo Gallery Import options cannot be applied on Windows Vista.

Files may not appear immediately when you scan photos through Windows Live Photo Gallery

If the folder that the photo was scanned into is in the navigation pane, you can view the photo by selecting the folder. If the folder is not in the navigation pane, you can add the folder by clicking the File button and then clicking Include a Folder in the Gallery.

"Setup Install Failure" error occurs

If Photo Gallery Setup does not run until it is finished, rename the file Spupdsvc.exe as _spupdsvc.exe, and then run Setup again. (The file is typically located at C:\ Windows\System32.) To do this follow these steps:
1.On Windows XP, click Start, click Search, type spupdsvc.exe in the Search box, and then press ENTER.

On Windows Vista, click Startthe Start button, and then type spupdsvc.exe in the Start Search box.
2.Locate the file Spupdsvc.exe, right-click the file, and then click Rename.
3.Rename the file as _spupdsvc.exe.
4.Run Setup again.
