This article discusses how to manage printers in your OneCare circle. After you install a printer on a computer in your OneCare circle, you can configure Windows Live OneCare to make the printer available to other computers in your circle.
To manage printers in your OneCare circle, follow these steps:
Open OneCare on a computer in your OneCare circle to which you have connected a printer.
Under Quick links, click Change settings.
Follow the steps that are appropriate for your situation:
Share all printers that are connected to a computer
On the Printer sharing tab, click to select the Automatically share all printers connected to this PC with PCs in my OneCare circle check box.
Click OK.
Any printer that you connect and install to the computer in the future will be automatically shared with other computers in your circle.
Select the printers that you want to share
On the Printer sharing tab, click Manage printers individually.
In the list of installed printers, right-click the printer that you want to share, and then click Start sharing printer.
Stop sharing all printers that are connected to a computer
On the Printer sharing tab, click to clear the Automatically share all printers connected to this PC with PCs in my OneCare circle check box.
Click OK.
Select the printer that you want to stop sharing
On the Printer sharing tab, click Manage printers individually.
In the list of installed printers, right-click the printer that you want to stop sharing, and then click Stop sharing printer.
Review the status of the computers and printers in your circle
On the Printer sharing tab, click Refresh.
Click OK.
If you think that the list of printers is inaccurate, delete the record of instances in which you declined to share a printer to your computer, and then update the screen. To do this, click Clear on the Printer sharing tab, and then click Refresh.
Notes
On the printer menu, the OneCare icon comes in front of the OneCare options. If you do not see a menu option together with the OneCare icon, restart the computer, and then try again.
If Start sharing printer appears on the printer menu, the printer is not configured to be shared.
If Stop sharing printer appears on the printer menu, the printer is configured to be shared.
If More information appears on the printer menu, the printer may not be configured correctly. To view detailed information about the printer, click More information.
If you have not activated OneCare or if your subscription has expired, the option to update your printer list will not be available.
