SYMPTOMS

You cannot install Windows Live Services on a computer that has Windows XP SP2 and Microsoft Office 2003 installed. When you try to install one or more Windows Live services, such as Windows Live Messenger or Windows Live Photo Gallery, the installer stops responding and does not finish the installation.

CAUSE

To install the Windows Live services, you must install an update for Windows XP that is available from Windows Update.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.Run Windows Update on the computer. Make sure that you have installed the following update:
