How to determine if your networking hardware is compatible with Xbox LIVE

This article describes how to find out which networking hardware is compatible with Xbox LIVE.

Xbox LIVE compatible routers and gateways are devices that have been specifically tested and confirmed to successfully connect an Xbox 360 console to Xbox LIVE. Routers and gateways marked with Compatible with Windows 7, Works with Windows Vista, or Certified for Windows Vista, have been tested for compatibility with Xbox LIVE.

Firmware is what makes a device Xbox LIVE compatible. We test different firmware versions and list the versions that are compatible with Xbox LIVE. If you don't know the firmware version of your network hardware, please contact your hardware manufacturer for help.

Before buying a new router, we recommend that you refer to our Xbox LIVE compatibly list to make sure that the model you are considering has been tested and approved as Xbox LIVE compatible.

Devices that are not on the Xbox LIVE compatibility list or that have not been verified as Windows compatible might still work well with Xbox LIVE. However, those devices might not work perfectly with Xbox LIVE and additional device configuration might be needed to set them up
