An update is now available for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices. This update installs a new time zone for Venezuela. The name of the new time zone is Venezuela Standard Time. The display name for this time zone is (GMT -04:30) Caracas.

The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has announced a new time zone for Venezuela GMT-4:30. The new time zone change takes effect at 03:00:00 on December 09, 2007.

How to install the software update if you can connect your device to the internet

  1. Connect your device to the internet.
  2. Download the correct update file for the device. The following is a list of the update files:
    • NewCaracasTZWM6.PPC.cab
    • NewCaracasTZWM6.SP.cab
    • NewCaracasTZWM5.PPC.cab
    • NewCaracasTZWM5.SP.cab

How to install the software update if you cannot connect your device to the internet

  1. Connect the Windows Mobile-based device to a computer.
  2. Download and run the NewCaracasTZ.msi file, and then follow the instructions.
Note You may have to manually restart the device to complete the software update installation. A manual restart is only required for some devices.

File information

The English version of this software update package has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
