An update is now available for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices. This update installs a new time zone for Venezuela. The name of the new time zone is Venezuela Standard Time. The display name for this time zone is (GMT -04:30) Caracas.

Software update information

The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has announced a new time zone for Venezuela GMT-4:30. The new time zone change takes effect at 03:00:00 on December 09, 2007.

How to install the software update

If you can connect the device to a computer, follow these steps:

1.	Connect the Windows Mobile-based device to the computer.
2.	Download and run the NewCaracasTZ.msi file, and then follow the instructions.

If you cannot connect the device to a computer, an update file is available. There are many ways to install the update file. For example, you can follow these steps:

1.	Download the correct update file for the Windows Mobile-based device to a computer. The following is a list of the update files: • NewCaracasTZWM6.PPC.cab • NewCaracasTZWM6.SP.cab • NewCaracasTZWM5.PPC.cab • NewCaracasTZWM5.SP.cab
2.	Attach the update file to an e-mail message, and then send the e-mail message to an account that you can access from the device.
3.	On the device, open the e-mail message, and then save the attached file.
4.	Locate the file, and then install the update.

Note You may have to manually restart the device to complete the software update installation. A manual restart is only required for some devices.

The English version of this software update package has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
