This article describes how to manage podcasts in the Zune software.
Podcasts are syndicated audio and video files that are available for download on the Internet. The Zune Marketplace features thousands of audio and video podcasts that are available for download. After you download a podcast, you can synchronize your Zune device to copy the podcast files to the Zune device.
To subscribe to a podcast in the Zune Marketplace, follow these steps:
- Start the Zune software.
- If you are not signed in, click Sign In, and then sign in by using your Windows Live ID.
- Click Marketplace, and then click Podcasts.
- Locate the podcast that you want, and then click Subscribe. The podcast will start to download into your collection.
To manage your podcast collection and settings, follow these steps:
- Start the Zune software.
- Click Collection, and then click Podcasts.
- Click a podcast in the podcast series. The following information appears in the Zune software window:
- A Details section that includes information about the podcast and about the podcast series.
- The titles and the dates of the podcasts in your collection.
- The status of the podcasts in your collection. For example, a podcast may have a dimmed AUTOMATIC status or a dimmed IN COLLECTION status.
- A DOWNLOAD button to manually download additional podcasts.
- An UNSUBSCRIBE button to stop your subscription to the selected podcast series.
- A SERIES SETTINGS button. When you click SERIES SETTINGS, you can configure the download, the playback, and the synchronization settings for the podcast series.
Note You can also right-click a podcast for more options. For example, you can right-click a podcast, and then click Play, Mark as Played, Add to burn list, or Delete.
To subscribe to a podcast series that is not listed in the Zune Marketplace, follow these steps:
- Start the Zune software.
- Click Collection, and then click Podcasts.
- Click ADD A PODCAST, type the URL for the podcast, and then click SUBSCRIBE.
