Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0. In the Accounts receivable parameters dialog box, you click Both or click Packing slip update in the Shipping specification list on the Shipments tab. Then, you create a sales order. Next, you open the Post packing slip dialog box, and then you try to create a shipment line in the Post packing slip dialog box. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Field 'Sales order' must be filled in.
This problem occurs because the salesID field is not initialized when you create a new SalesShippingStat line if the Mandatory property of the salesID field is Yes.
Hotfix InformationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 service pack or the next version that contains this hotfix.
Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Technical Support Professional for Microsoft Dynamics and related products determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question.
This hotfix is scheduled to be included with Service Pack 3 for Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.
Installation informationBefore you install this hotfix, verify that the Microsoft Dynamics AX client users are logged off the system. You should be the only client user who is logged on when you implement this hotfix.
To implement this hotfix, you must have a developer license.
Note We recommend that the user account in the Windows Logins window or in the Database Logins window be a member of the Administrators User group in Microsoft Dynamics AX.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
PrerequisitesYou must have Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 installed to apply this hotfix.
Restart requirementAfter you have installed the hotfix, you must exit the Microsoft Dynamics AX client program and restart all Microsoft Dynamics AX Application Object Servers (AOS). You do not have to restart Microsoft Windows.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
