The hotfix that is discussed in this article is not available for the Chinese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or for the Japanese version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
When you send an e-mail message to a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 user, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 does not create an e-mail record as expected. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
The Microsoft Dynamics CRM-Exchange E-mail Router is running.
The user to whom you send the e-mail message has the "e-mail forwarding" rule deployed.
The e-mail message contains an attachment that is an empty .txt file.
When this problem occurs, the following error message is logged in the application event log on the Microsoft Exchange Server server on which the Microsoft Dynamics CRM-Exchange E-mail Router is deployed:

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 3.

Install this hotfix on computers that are running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server components and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook components.
Prerequisites
You must have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 installed to apply this hotfix.
Additionally, you must have Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 installed to apply this hotfix.

Removal information
To remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
System administrators can use the Spuninst.exe tool to remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000.
The Spuninst.exe tool is located in the %Windir%\$NTUninstallKB945220$\Spuninst folder.
